The Tour Pass as Pop Art
As always Horace Panter loves to turn items deemed disposable into collectable pieces of art,
as Andy Warhol did with the humble Soup Can.
This collection includes original paintings, signed limited editions on paper, and large scale deluxe editions on Perspex.
What is a Tour Pass?
The backstage tour pass is a credential which allows its bearer access to restricted areas at a performance or conference venue, most associated with music and entertainment events.
Backstage passes can come in the form of lanyards, stickers or wristbands. To deter counterfeiting, these passes often include holograms and unique artwork. After the performance, backstage passes often become memorabilia sold on online marketplaces, especially when the pass is signed by a performer.
What is AAA?
Access All Areas (AAA) is the highest tier pass and allows the bearer full access to the venue before, during and after the performance. Such passes are usually restricted to the performers, promoters and artist management.
Whose Tour Passes are these?
This new series of paintings and signed editions by Horace Panter are either inspired by his own passes from the many tours he undertook as bass player with
The Specials or supplied by friends such as Mark Bedford (Bedders) from
Madness.
What Passes are in this series?
This stunning series will include a selection of bands and performers, such as
The Ramones, shown below.
